Its name means "mother hill",so called because frequent landslip on its eastern face have resulted in a multitude of 'mini-hills' beneath it. There is a well marked footpath leads to the summit of Mam Tor. The view is so nice from Mam Tor. Lovely short walk with family and friends, also available for running and cycling.
